Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger continues to keep faith his depleted Arsenal squad can still have a say in the Premier League title race – but only if they deliver maximum points from their remaining six games.

The Gunners were left counting the cost of the midweek Champions League quarter-final against Barcelona after captain Cesc Fabregas and defender William Gallas suffered injuries which will sideline them both for the rest of the campaign, while Russian playmaker Andrey Arshavin faces at least three weeks out of action.

Nevertheless, Wenger believes the likes of veteran Sol Campbell, French midfielder Samir Nasri and England forward Theo Walcott can rise to the challenge and keep the Gunners in the hunt for the championship as they prepare for the visit of an improved Wolves side looking to make the most of the top two facing off at Old Trafford.

“I am still confident, but we know now we cannot afford to drop points,” the Arsenal manager said.

“I believe we have enough strength and character in the squad – we have shown that many times this season.

“Now, the target is even higher because we lost more players.”

Arsenal hauled themselves back into contention of what had looked a two-horse race with a run of six straight Premier League wins.

However, the Gunners dropped what could yet be two vital points at Birmingham last weekend, when the hosts netted an equaliser in stoppage-time.

Arsenal would appear to have a somewhat less challenging run-in – although they still have to play both Manchester City and Tottenham.

However, the prospect of facing Wolves at home is now perhaps not as straightforward as it would have been a few weeks ago, with Mick McCarthy’s men unbeaten in the last four.

“Wolves are on a good run,” reflected Wenger.

“I believe that this game demands 100% focus – nobody beats Wolves at the moment just turning up and thinking it will be an easy game.

“They play well, they are on a good run as well so it will be interesting.

“It will show how much focus we can bring into a game like that.”

Wenger is clearly determined to have his team’s full attention on events at the Emirates Stadium, rather than what may happen at Old Trafford in Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off.

“First of all we have one main target – to win our game,” the Arsenal boss insisted.

“After that tomorrow’s game is an opportunity, if we win our game, to catch one of the teams or two of the teams.

“But of course the main target is for us to win the game.”

All three of the leading sides have now lost key men from their squad, with United’s in-form England striker Wayne Rooney set to miss the best part of a month after suffering ankle ligament damage against Bayern Munich.

Wenger, though, insists injuries are part of the game all managers have to take.

“That is why the big clubs have big squads,” the Arsenal boss said, “no matter what happens we cannot complain, because we have the luxury to have 20 players of nearly the same level.

“In every squad you have two or three personalities who are a bit more dominant, but we have top-class players on the bench anyway.”

Walcott certainly proved his credentials when coming on against Barcelona and helping to turn the match back in Arsenal’s favour with a well-taken goal.

The 21-year-old is likely to be recalled into the starting XI tomorrow.

“I believe at a certain stage of your career you can be an impact player, but the target of Theo is to become a regular player,” said Wenger.

“Games like against Barcelona, you win with a squad.

“Most of the time the battle is so hard, that after 70 minutes when the level drops a bit, players who have quality can come on and make a difference.”

With Robin van Persie close to make his long-awaited comeback, the Gunners lose Cesc Fabregas, William Gallas, Andrey Arshavin and more players after last Wednesday’s epic battle against Barcelona in the Champions League. The Frenchman and Russian will be sidelined for three weeks whilst the Spaniard’s season is prematurely over. Luckily, Mikael Silvestre, Sol Campbell, Tomas Rosicky, Eduardo and Carlos Vela should all be fit to face Wolves this weekend, an easy game on the cards before the trip to the Camp Nou.

Speaking on Thursday, Wenger said:

At the moment, we are like an army who have come back from a big battle. We have some bruises but we need to recover and then go to the next battle. Who will be available for the next one? I have to wait 24 hours more. William had a recurrence of his calf strain. That is at least three weeks. The next one is Arshavin – calf strain, three weeks.

Gael Clichy is struggling with a back problem. He might need a breather as well. I don’t know yet, we will assess that tomorrow. Denilson has a groin problem, we will assess that too. The first three are out, Clichy and Denilson are ‘possibles’ to play at the weekend. We have Silvestre and Campbell available. Then of course there is Rosicky and Eduardo. Vela is coming back too.

Actually, I don’t really understand what is blogging? Writting diary inside the blog? Gossips? Personal views? Politics? Everything will do i guess. From what i have seen from my friends, mostly girls, they like to write about their personal life. They love to let people know what they are doing all the time.
